01 / الأطراف البيونية

أطراف اصطناعية تصبح جزءًا من الجسد.

قاد البروفيسور أورتيز كاتالان تطوير أول طرف اصطناعي يندمج مباشرةً في عظام المريض وأعصابه وعضلاته (TEDx، 2014). وقد استخدم أول شخص زُرعت له هذه الطرف الاصطناعي العصبي العضلي الهيكلي في حياته اليومية لأكثر من 10 سنوات، ويستطيع الأشخاص الذين يحملون هذه الأطراف البيونية عالية التكامل الإحساس بالأشياء التي يلمسونها من خلال التحفيز المباشر للأعصاب التي قُطعت أثناء البتر.

فهمٌ جديد لألم الطرف الشبحي.

إلى جانب التحديات الوظيفية، كثيرًا ما يُصاب الأشخاص المبتورة أطرافهم بألم اعتلال عصبي مزمن. وقد قدّم البروفيسور أورتيز كاتالان أعمالًا رائدة في مجال ألم الطرف الشبحي (PLP)، إذ طوّر علاجات تعتمد على التعلم الآلي والواقع الافتراضي والمعزّز تُستخدم اليوم حول العالم (مثال بالفيديو): التنفيذ الحركي الشبحي، PME (The Lancet، 2016) والتدريب الحركي التدريجي، PMT (JNER، 2026).

في عام 2018 اقترح فرضية Stochastic Entanglement لتفسير منشأ ألم الطرف الشبحي، مع إطار نظري لفهمه وعلاجه على نحو أفضل. ومنذ ذلك الحين امتدت أعماله لتشمل الألم الناتج عن إصابات الأعصاب والسكتة الدماغية، بما في ذلك المقاربات الجراحية. المزيد عن ألم الطرف الشبحي →
