二十年来，他始终致力于将基础科学转化为人们日常使用的技术：与骨骼和神经系统相连的仿生肢体，以及帮助人们摆脱幻肢痛的治疗方法。

让假肢成为身体的一部分。

Ortiz Catalán 教授主导研发了首个直接与患者骨骼、神经和肌肉整合的假肢（TEDx, 2014）。首位植入这种神经肌肉骨骼假肢的患者已在日常生活中使用超过 10 年；装配这类高度整合仿生肢体的人，能够通过直接刺激截肢时被切断的神经，感知所触摸的物体。

他的仿生学研究涵盖：提升灵巧性的外科重建、神经接口、生物电信号采集电子技术、基于机器学习的运动意图解码，以及用于感觉反馈的神经刺激。可观看近期 WIRED 拍摄的纪录片，了解概况。

02 / 截肢后疼痛

重新认识幻肢痛。

除了功能上的挑战，截肢者还常常会出现慢性神经病理性疼痛。Ortiz Catalán 教授在幻肢痛（PLP）领域开展了开创性研究，开发出基于机器学习以及虚拟现实和增强现实的治疗方法，目前已在全球范围内应用（视频示例）：幻肢运动执行（Phantom Motor Execution，PME；The Lancet, 2016）以及渐进式运动训练（Progressive Motor Training，PMT；JNER, 2026）。

2018 年，他提出了 Stochastic Entanglement 假说，阐释 PLP 的起源，并提供了更好地理解和治疗幻肢痛的理论框架。此后，他的研究扩展到神经损伤和中风引起的疼痛，包括外科治疗方法。进一步了解幻肢痛 →
